EMMAUS LUTHERAN CHURCH
Emmaus Lutheran Church is a congregation of Christians that has been serving Fountain Square and Greater Indianapolis for more than 111 years. In their mission to compassionately show the MERCY we have been shown in Christ Jesus, they reach out to their neighborhood with a variety of ministries. They have worship in both English and Spanish. Their school includes Kindergarten through Fourth Grade. Their food pantry is open 3 days a week in a house beside the church. As we visit Emmaus, we appreciate the beauty of their historic building, but also their focus on the current needs of their community. We join with them as brothers and sisters serving together to extend God’s Kingdom.
The historic Fountain Square neighborhood of Indianapolis is currently experiencing rebirth. The area was a thriving commercial center from 1870 through the 1950s when inner city changes caused a decline. Concentrated re-investments starting at the end of the 1990s has brought back a great renewal making the Fountain Square a great cultural gathering place as well as a popular residential area for those seeking both the big city and a tight knit community feeling. There is much to do from and entertainment perspective, but also from a service perspective. Fountain Square is a good place to share the love of Christ in acts of service as well as words of Gospel.
